*looks at my cat* Kaylee, get the ship ready for Impulse Buy.
OK, that joke worked better out loud. And when it was a Star Trek reference. Oh well.
Anyway, I did some research with both the Internet and my phone. Best Buy has it for $13.99 -- but not in stock. Circuit City has it for $13.99 -- but not in stock. Amazon has it for $13.49 -- but no local presence exists. Wait, scratch that - Target is Amazon. Same price, no stock.
Tower Records has it for $18.99, on sale for $15.99. Do they have it in stock? Not only do they, but they've got 19 copies! Plus, we're already planning to have dinner near them. It's a little more expensive, but A) it's actually there, and B) no shipping costs. I have them hold a copy for me.
So we go. Upstairs register. Only one person in line - we wait. Got to counter - got a CD on hold. He gets it. He rings it up. That'll be $20.56, sir.
It's $18.99 plus tax.
No, it's on sale. Tower has it online for $15.99.
That's different. It's a different system.
Price match it.
I'm sorry, I can't do that.
Look, I'm not asking you to price match Amazon, who, incidentally, has it for $13.49. I'm asking you to price match yourselves.
I can't. Would you like me to get a manager?
No, I'll order through Amazon.
Haven't done so yet. Still kinda hoping I'll see it in the Torrents somewhere. But still - what the hell? They can't even price match their own company? Something is seriously wrong with that...
Side note: Tower is the only company online that sees an SRP of $18.99 for this disc. Everybody else that lists it shows it as $17.99. Tower inflated the list price so they could charge more. I'm gonna be avoiding giving them my money for a while...
