Auto update
Bad news: Car's computer needs to be replaced.
Good news: It's under the extended warranty! Free auto repair! Yay!!!

Bad news: Car's gas tank also needs to be replaced. For some reason, that one's NOT covered under the extended warranty - and it's expensive. (At least it's only three digits, I suppose - but it's close to the upper limit of those digits...) Uck.
Bad news: Gas tank needs to be ordered. MAY arrive tomorrow, at which point the car could be ready as early as tomorrow evening - may not.

Good news: Because part of the repair is covered by warranty, car rental for the duration of the repair is also covered by warranty! So I'm going to the dealer after school today to pick up a rental car - making me much more mobile than I've been today. Yay!!

While I'm there, I'll ask why the gas tank isn't covered when the computer is. Both really ought to be....

Not much happened for a long time, then it got real busy real quick.

That's how it always happens. When it rains....

How old is the car, 'cause yeah a gas tank will breakdown over time, but not usually that soon. Hence why like tires, its not covered, since its anticipated to wear out eventually and is an expected cost of maintainence. I can honestly say I don't know many people who have had to bother.

It's a 1991 Toyota Prius. Apparently the gas tank is covered in the extended warranty up to 3 years or 36000 miles - both of which are exceeded. But as it turns out, I'd prefer the computer (over $2000) be the one covered under warranty over the gas tank ($850ish). If I had to choose one of those to pay for, I got the one I'd choose....

Re: Car
I'm guessing you mean a 2001, but still sucks that a gas tank went in like less than 5 years.

I'm dumb.
Yeah, 2001. It's been a week...
