Looks like we've got a place

We're in communication with the owner of a set of four-plexes in La Habra - about eight minutes drive from school (which is 12-17 minutes closer than the current house).  The unit we're looking at is a townhouse with a real "home-ey" feel to it - as opposed to the last prospect, which was an extremely nice apartment that felt like a temporary measure until we could get something better.  I think we can make this work.  Plus, he's willing to let us in despite some credit issues we've been dealing with, and the cost if about $500 per month less than prospect #1.

Downsides include that it's not as close to freeways - but they're still accessable.  (We'll be about 2 miles from the 57 along Imperial Highway, so we can still get to wherever, it's just a slightly longer drive.  Not that big a deal.

Parking is on the street or in the garage (big enough for one) - but we'll be using the garage for storage.  Oh, and for laundry - there's washer/dryer hookups in it!  Yay!

Also, the place won't be available until the 20th or so - which is cutting it a bit close to our move-out deadline of the 26th.  But that's still workable, if not as liesurely as we'd hoped.  (We wanted to move a week or two before that and have a big yard sale of all the stuff we hadn't taken with us, and have yet more time after that to have Goodwill haul away whatever doesn't sell.  We'll figure something out...)

As a side note, we've taken the adivice of Jen's Uncle Phil and gotten ourselves a PO Box.  It's in the Post Office right by the townhouse, so it's a good thing he's approved us!  =)

Anyway, we're meeting him again on Friday to discuss the details.  Hopefully I'm not jinxing that meeting by posting this here.  But I promised I'd keep you updated....  So wish us luck!
