Claustrophobics Anonymous
My office is kinda crammed with desks and such (semi-cubicle-land, but not in the purest form), so when they said they were hiring another tech support guy, the question came up of where to put them. The answer was, just cram all the desks closer together! There's PLENTY of room!

So each of us lost about two to three inches off our cubicle.

You'd be AMAZED what a difference two or three inches can make. It really feels like the wall behind me is closing in on me. I never thought of myself as claustrophobic before, but MAN....

It'll pass, I know, and I'll get used to it and be fine. But for the moment........ yikes....

Cubic advice...

  • Take your breaks away from your desk, especially lunch. Get outside if at all feasible.
  • Learn the art of the Prarie Dog. If there's an interesting noise, stick your head up to see what it is.
  • If you can, loosen your chair back to lean back. That way, if you look left or right, you should see open space.
  • Stand up and stretch every hour, at the least.

This should help with that to a certain extent.

Lives in a cubicle.
