Some movies just shouldn't be greenlit.
Particularly with certain people attached.

This, for example.

Or this.

That first one's an inspired choice, actually. I'm really looking forward to it. The casting will alienate it's core audience. But, that's largely what makes it great.

The second one, I refuse to acknowledge. It isn't happening. Simple as that.

I Recognize That Picture!
Nobody seemed too bothered when Morgan Freeman played God in "Bruce Almighty." Of course, homophobia is a much more mainstream and accepted hatred than racism these days. Hooray for progress!

I think you are looking at this wrong...
I, too, was disturbed by the first link, but then I realized that I was wrong... Ellen won't be playing "God", she'll be the John Denver character. I mean, throw some glasses on her and ... dead ringer!

Re: I think you are looking at this wrong...
I did notice this at MSNBC's website...

'DeGeneres will star as God in a remake of the 1977 comedy “Oh, God!” The original starred George Burns as the creator and John Denver as a supermarket manager tapped as a new prophet.'
