Saw Urinetown last night
If you get a chance, SEE IT. Trust me. I've never seen a more enjoyable musical about love, social oppresion, and urination.

Plus it pokes fun at just about every musical out there, up to and including Les Mis.

Oh, and I didn't realize until I got there, but the guy who cowrote the book and music is a veteran of the Neo-Futurists, most famous for their play "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" - which, in turn, is famous among those I know for it's segment that was later turned into an animation entitled "Bingo." This explains a lot, including the surreality and tongue-in-cheek humor in which the play makes fun of itself.

Just go see it already. It's playing at the OCPAC for the moment, and looks like it'll hit Los Angeles in a couple of weeks.

Re: Heh.
It was actually Kevin who told me that his Mom walked out during the intermission of "Urinetown" - so that's interesting that Linda didn't care for it too much.

Yay for you seeing Misty at South Bay! :) Lucky you! It's not my favorite musical - but I haven't seen Misty on stage since... Gah! "Anyone Can Whistle!" :( And I haven't updated her site in eons - I feel bad... :P

And I think you'll enjoy the tour of Millie - Diana is spectacular (or so I've heard) as Miss Dorothy, and Sean Allan Krill's no Kevin, but I heard he's a very good Graydon too. Too bad Matt left the cast - I'd love to see his Jimmy!

Seen any other great shows in LA? I miss LA theatre so much! :(
