My answer is generally consistent - a hug always makes me happy. Most of my friends don't accept that, so I point them to my Amazon wish list. (I suppose this year I could request a Kick the Cheat plush as well, but it's not really a necessity...)
The thing is, I'm not being sarcastic or anything when I request a hug and nothing more. When it comes to birthdays and holidays and other such events, I personally am really bad about giving people gifts. It's just a talent I don't have - I don't know if it's 'cause I'm self-centered or something, but I just can't get myself to a store (brick and mortor or online), think of what someone would want, and pick it up just because it's that time of year. I pick up little presents for people for no reason occasionally because I see something that strikes a chord of "they'd enjoy this" but it has always seemed a little forced to me to try to shove that in a timeframe. So anyway, I'm really bad about giving gifts, so when it comes time to receive them I feel really guilty when these people that I really do care about but don't tend to give stuff to, give stuff to me. But a hug is usually heartfelt (at least when it's from a friend), is free, and is always appreciated.
So anyway, I guess that's just another little aspect to the insanity that is me. Now what are you waiting for? There are links up there! Go buy stuff! =)
