Geek! Geek out!
OK, so I'm a complete local Los Angeles Theatre geek. I didn't really realize to what degree until tonight, when I went to the theatre with Jen and Mom to see To Kill a Mockingbird at the West Coast Ensemble, and spent a good 45 minutes pre-show and 15 minutes post-show chatting with Richard Israel. We spoke of many things, including my ventures with the Masters of Harmony, Jen's ventures with The Pampered Chef, and Mom's ventures with Channelaire. The night ended with Richard giving me his e-address to get him the information on MOH's Christmas Show, since Jen didn't have any flyers in her car (December 13 at CSU Los Angeles, for those that might care).

Now, Richard Israel isn't a huge name. He's done a lot of Musical Theatre Guild stuff, several things at WCE, and some others I've seen. He's a good musical theatre actor, and I have a lot of respect for him. So getting his e-mail address made me majorly squid out and get all hyper and bouncy on the drive home.

That's how I knew I was a complete nerd about these things. See, it's not like I got Bernadette Peters' e-address, or even Misty Cotton. Richard's one of those guys that most people will see once or twice and be impressed, but probably not remember the name of. But to me, it was like I got a hold of the holy grail.

So anyway, I'm a geek. Nerd. Scary stalker fan.

Hi, sorry to barge in on your LJ but I found it doing a search for LA theatre fans. I'm a HUGE fan of LA theatre and have been trying to see as many shows as I can in the area.

And I definitely know who Richard Israel is. I've seen him numerous times in "1776" with Reprise! My favorite LA performers are - Kevin Earley (who is really NOT an LA theatre performer any more :(...), Misty Cotton, and Julie Dixon Jackson. I'm also a HUGE fan of Nick DeGruccio whether he's on the stage or directing - he's incredible!

Mind if I add you to my friends' list? I guess you can check out my user information and let me know. Thanks!

Better late than never, I guess
Sorry for the LONG delay in replying to this, but I was just going through my past entries and saw your post for the first time! No clue what happened.

Anyway, did you get to see Kevin and Misty in Side Show? Talk about an incredible experience... It amazes me that the show didn't get more recognition (read: income) when on Broadway.

Yeah, Richard, Kevin, and Misty are really the only three "names" that I know in the LA Theatre scene, although I've gotten to a point that I recognize quite a few more faces. My parents (one, an Ovation voter; the other, a loyal husband and fan) got on a first-name basis with several, but when I go with them to say hi after a show, I generally hang out in the background and gawk.

As far as your friends' list goes, I'd be flattered! Although, I think you'll find my journal hasn't been as exciting recently as it used to be. I haven't been as avid a poster as I was a year ago -- you should go back and read some of my early stuff. I've got some gems. (Krispy Kreme. 'Nuff said.)

Anyway, you've likely long since given up hope of getting a reply to your original post, but I hope that this was a pleasant surprise. Talk to you later!

OK, now I'm doubly embarassed. I just looked at the date/time of your reply and saw that it was this morning. Again, didn't see the e-mail in my inbox, so didn't know to look for that.

So, please disregard the "better late than never" parts of my original reply. Absolutely feel free to add me until you get bored of me (at which point, feel free to remove me without any insult being taken).

I'll go hide in a corner now...

Embarassment x3
OK, now that I've looked at your profile, I realize that we've actually met!

My parents are Jerry and Linda Levitz -- I met you after Assassins a few months ago!

Re: Embarassment x3
Wow! I can't believe that I ran across your journal! :) And yes Linda has always been very sweet to me by informing me of all of Kevin's recent shows (when he fails to tell me - which happens quite a bit) and now even some of Misty's shows too. :)

I've just added you - I enjoy your journal. Please say HI to your Mom for me. :)
