Well, at least there's that.
I just sent out the check that made my credit cards completely free of my own debt.

Hanukkah presents helped a LOT there, as did my former roommates paying me for two months' worth of payments. (OK, it was the first time I'd seen a check from them in about five months, but still...it was VERY nice to see this now.) So now I just need to pay my grandparents back for all the money they've loaned me to help with the same goal. Then, when I'm done with that, I'll pay my parents back what I owe them.

All said, I should be completely in the black in about 35 months. Three years - really, for the amount of debt I'm in, that's not all that bad.

(Note, by the way, the use of the word "should" in that sentance....)

Yay for no debt on credit cards! That must feel really good bro. Happy for you. :)

It's downright surreal
We'll see what happens. I've taken all the credit cards out of my wallet, and have committed myself to paying $500 per paycheck to debt reduction. (Naturally, that'll have to go down if I end up living someplace where the rent is a little less cost-effective) That still leaves me quite a bit per month to play with, which I think is important. Because I've proven that I'll play whether I have the cash or not. Which is a mistake....

But I'm optimistic. This is a wonderfully good thing.

Welcome to the club.
Try to have your move coincide with a disportionately high raise in salary.

Or better yet, stay a while after that raise...
