Yay!!
Thanks to lqc and nentikobe and kobrin!!!

Based on help and advice I got from these three sources (primarily the first and third, but Nenti took the steps that made the conversation possible!), the mysterious disk drive issue has been resolved.  What happened was that Norton GoBack was installed in my previous iteration of Windows, and when I reinstalled, it didn't release the drive.  So a hex edit to the header so the drive was no longer of Type 44 (GoBack), but was rather Type 07 (NTFS), combined with a restart so Windows could see the drive and assign a letter to it, made the thing work.  Hooray!

Just to be on the safe side, though, I'm gonna go run Scandisk on the sucker.....

That is a really good question... It's the only night that we didn't have anything planned and I was hoping to get the house cleaned up more... so cleaning vs. a cappella... Wow that is a hard decision. :)

Actually, we will have to see what tomorrow is like in the grand scheme of life. But it is not out of the relm of possibilities.

Being that it is my birthday that day, I hereby decree that as a present to me you will go to an acapella concert instead of cleaning. ;)

Hope that it all works out the way you want.
