School stuff
Some stuff to look forward to in the near future, assuming I get through this week's practical exams, and next week's finals:

My clinic experience begins in a good way.  I'm in Group 1, which means I'm in the clinic 12-3 Mondays and Wednesdays.  This was the group I wanted to be in - it means I don't have to be there 'till 6 (as both the other groups do).  I'm required to bring in 2 new patients to the clinic in the first couple months of the year, so that'd be a great time to come say hi!

Late April:
I'm a-comin' home!  Jen and I are looking to move to Ventura county, and it's looking like this will be the time.  YAY!!!!  I miss Ventura quite a bit, and every time I visit it just calls to me, so I'm REALLY looking forward to this, despite what it will do to me in drive times.  But the drive won't be hugely different from what I'd already be experiencing because...

My clinic experience continues in 6-week rotations, and I just found out that my base clinic will be at CSUN!  This excites me for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that it's the closest base clinic to Ventura of the ones available, which makes the move possible.  In fact, it's about equidistant from where I am now, so it'll work out very nicely.  No clue what life will be like in the six weeks between base clinic rotations, but that's a bridge to cross when we get there.

All in all, I'm very excited.  Things are falling into the exact places I want them to.  Now to pass these classes, and therefore ensure that it's not all for naught....

late April/early May...
road trip to Golden China! Martine has still never been and there are two more friends/Golden China fiends I'd love to see. :)

If everything works out according to plan, we'll have a guest bedroom an' everything. Although, queen sized futon-bed and no crib yet.....

Mmmmmmmmm...... Golden China......... =)

Return of the Pugi
It'll be good to have you back in the 'hood. Look into train schedules. If the timing works out, it could be a much more pleasant commute, where you can use the travel time for study instead of concentrating on difficult traffic conditions. I believe you can buy a seasonal pass at a discount.

Good idea!
I'll have to look into that when it gets closer and I have an idea of what my schedule will look like. Hard to say which train I'll need to be on without knowing what time I need to be there.... =)

wisdom = paranoia
Mom makes fun of me for this practice, but seriously take a day to test your route before counting on it. If possible, take two -- once you identify a problem, the solution needs confirming.

I've personally never had a good experience waiting at the Metrolink station downtown, and think you're better off driving as far as Oxnard (where there are updated schedules posted, and humans to confirm that the train is actually running on a day to day basis. It's also a Greyhound station, so you have a second option should the first one fall through. Only, don't wait for your that to happen before you check -- by the time you miss your train, you've also probably missed your bus).

Also, whatever you come up with to get there on time? Offset the whole thing so at every step, you're on an earlier schedule. Redundancy is everything!
