Somber thought...
When you're in school, Summer is something to look forward to.

When you're working, Summer is something to look out your window at longingly.

Perspective, mortal!
  • You've joined a chorus and performed front row in competition.

  • You drive to amusement parks whenever you feel like it.

  • You attend every concert and event that you want to.

  • You see new movies the day they come out, at your choice of theater.

  • You get in costume and roleplay with your friends every week.

  • There are no empty slots in your social calendar, ever, under any circumstance.
You've got no homework.

You have a job to pay for all of it.

At what point does this cease to be the best summer ever?

Mortality can be fun.
You're right on most counts. But for the sake of pointing them out (along with their respective silver linings)....

I'm not in front row, but that's partially by choice. Competition is July 6.

Aside from Venice, I haven't gone to a concert in about a year and a half....and there've been some good ones in town. But yeah, when Weird Al is playing the Orange County Fair this summer (for a full week!), I won't be missing it...

I've missed several movies that I really wanted to see, but you're right, I do generally see the bigger ones...

The roleplaying slows down during the summer to every other week. Which will allow me more time to hang out with Egoman and Nanny.

So OK, I guess what I'm pining for is the standardized three-month vacation...
