Silent Hill
OK, so I was curious when I saw that the trailer for the Silent Hill movie was online. I played the original game and was completely sucked in by it - the thing was utterly absorbing from the beginning moment, and entirely too freaky. Put the first sequel into the XBox, and just couldn't get into it. Maybe I didn't give it enough time, but I didn't have to do that with the first one. Anyway, there've been two more sequels since then, and I haven't bothered. But I have strangely fond memories of sitting alone in the cold dark apartment in Turlock late at night playing Silent Hill on the guys' Playstation, being entirely too tense for my own good, having trouble sleeping after turning the machine off, and loving every second of it. Not something I can explain, since I usually don't enjoy those kinds of feelings, but there it is.

Anyway, they seem to have made a movie, and aside from the main character being female (I vaguely remember being male in the game, but it's been six or seven years since I played so I could easily be wrong), they seem to have kept the story and, more importantly, the feel, intact. Based entirely on the trailer, anyway.

But don't take my word for it; make your own call.

Of course, the game had like seven possible endings, based on decisions you made throughout. I wonder which they'll go with. Probably the one where the kid lives and not the bizarre one with the aliens, but you never know.... Maybe they'll do a Clue-like thing and have them all in different theatres. Or maybe they'll pull a Suicide Kings (assuming I'm thinking of the right movie) and have six alternate endings on the DVD. Only time will tell...

Whatever the case, this is a movie I'm not going to want to want to see, but I'm going to want to see it anyway. I'm pretty sure Jen will NOT want to see it. So do check out the trailer and let me know if you'll go with me sometime after it's released on 4/21.... Jen's doing something PC-related in Long Beach that Sunday - anybody up for a matinee? =)
